From the construction of rationals, we know that the spacing between them is arbitrarily close, but at any “magnification level” — for any chosen denominator b — the values divide the continuum into uniform intervals. Uniform spacing also implies maximal spacing: even though there is no upper or lower bound to the values of a / b, they are as far apart as they can be.
